Your scent awakened me."
She looked into his eyes
from her soft velvet coffin
propped against the wall.
There were faint red stains
on the silky garment loosely
wrapped around her young,
voluptuous frame.
"Are you here to claim me
as one of your prizes?"
Her expression was unchanged,
but her eyes stared intently.
He did not speak a word.
He knew that she was trying
to charm him... to get inside
his mind.  He had prepared
for this.
He quickly placed the stake
over her heart and raised
the mallet.
"No! Wait!!" Her expression
changed to fear and she
grabbed his arm. He strained
for a moment against her
adrenalized strength, then
brought the mallet down
with practiced force.
She let out a brief shriek,
then glared at him in
disbelief as the life drained
from her body. A moment later
she slumped forward into a
growing pool of blood.
The job done, he searched her
body and found his deceased
wife's earrings.  He dropped
them into his shirt pocket
